CREDO CAFE

Month

Subject

24th September

Science -vs- Religion – isn’t it all over for religion? (i.e. does God even exist?)

15th October

The Old Testament – who could love a god of blood and thunder?

12th November

War – what IS it good for? (Why do Christians hold opposing political views? Doesn’t American Neo- Con Christianity devalue the faith?)

10th December

Celebration – hedonism-vs-puritanism (can Christians enjoy themselves? What are the limits?)

28th January

Tolerance – there are no ‘sins’ any more (Secular Relativism part 1)

25th February

Relativism – there are no ‘truths’ any more. (Secular Relativism part 2)

18th March

Why do I feel lonely? (existential angst 100 years on)

15th April

Jesus the patient – deluded, self-destructive, sociopath? (If not the son of God - what did make him tick?)

13th May

Life after death – wishful thinking? (heaven, hell, spiritualism)

17th June

Money, money, money. (discipleship and sacrifice)

15th July

Love one another – finally we agree about something! – don’t we? (how Christ’s demands on us are more radical than we dare imagine)

August

No meeting in August

2000 years ago a Roman official with power over life and death was given a unique opportunity. Before him stood the most influential human being the world has ever known. With the chance to ask any question of this remarkable man the official chose— ‘What is Truth?’

It’s possible this was an ‘ironic’ statement, a sneering denial of the very possibility of absolutes in a messy world. Or was it a genuine cry from the heart of a confused individual?

Credo Café is a place to think about the building blocks of life—our beliefs. Do we go with the flow or do we seek for truth?

Come along at 8pm, bring your questions, bring your doubts, bring your true self, just leave behind your preconceptions.

Friendship, snacks, drinks, discussion, music and chat. All are welcome.
